Reviews
"It is a
most intriguing mixture of old chants, flamenco, middle eastern, primeval paganism
and aggressive New Age. There are even hints of Yma Sumac.. Fascinating.. with
a sense of mysterious drama."
- Norma Lynn, Arts alive and Well, New Mexico "M. Louveau, a singer whose voice has been described as haunting
and highly individualistic."
- Time Out, New York
"Never Adhering or locked to traditional forms, Louveau's compositional
strength in achieving clear shapes leades us into a realm of foreign
landscapes; the Classical influence is no longer pure Classicism, the
Post Modern not pure Euro-centric Post Modernism...; Furthermore, we
cannot generalize Louveau's works into any sect, but instead we are
encouraged to accept her as a new explorer."
- Mark Cheng, None Such Records

HollyWarburton /artist film maker
Edda is a collaborative project with english artist Holly Warburton
and
french singer performer Muriel Louveau.
The show is made up of 5 Dioramas of video and sound with multiple
screen video projection and live performance.
Each Diorama is inspired by The primeval Edda Saga that tells the
story of creation and relates also to the greek myth of Persephone.
Muriel Louveau will project her voice within an recorded
environment (and through the use 5.1 surround technology ),treated
like a mould made of nature sounds, digital effects combined with
acoustic instruments in a way to create for the listener a powerful
sense of" immersion."
The premiere will take place in Paris at the cube ( center for digital
arts)
on nov 18TH, 2006.
Presentation
EDDA is inspired by The Poetic Edda Sagas of the 10th century, The
Icelandic
myth of Creation and within that the four elements.
A Stage Performance and video and sound Installation that combines a
series of Dioramas which contemplate the four elements within the
human body , Fire Earth, Air and Water. . The elements transmute
through the
cycles of life and within universal and personal consciousness.
Memories of
creation lie within our psyche and within our bones which perhaps only
the
language of metaphor can touch upon.
Intention
The guide line to enter this world stays in the vocals and the
symbolic
diversity of language ,the aim is to capture the moment at which the
actual human voice becomes a system of symbols and how it can
relate to the impact of technology and digital art ,how sound and
video can engage a dialogue to question and explore the language of
myth.
